The Tovertafel
What if therapy didn't feel like therapy? The Tovertafel is an interactive light game made for people living with dementia. It turns an ordinary table into a world of connection, movement and joy.
Sparks memories
Gentle light and sound that stir warm memories.
Encourages connection
Shared play that brings people and families together.
Invites movement
Reaching and tapping become joyful play, not exercise.
Brings joy
No wrong answers here, just real moments of success.
Using light, movement, music and touch, the Tovertafel meets people where they are. A simple hand movement can create ripples in water. Fish swim away when touched. Leaves drift across the table. And often, people who had become quiet begin to smile, interact and connect again.
Research shows the Tovertafel can help reduce apathy and agitation, encourage movement, stimulate the senses, and create moments of real connection. It works because it shifts the focus from what dementia takes away to what is still possible.
Hosted at The Living Hub by Blacktown Dementia Action Group, in partnership with NewPath. Bring your carer or loved one. Bookings essential.
